Small and medium industries (IKM) have a role as supporting industries. However, the process of business that applies in Indonesia often puts an IKM in a low bargaining position due to uncertainty capacity, delivery time, cost, and quality. This problem can be overcome by optimizing (i) IKM collaboration with industries supplied, and (ii) collaboration between fellow IKMs. These two issues can be overcome by the application of shared manufacturing including through supplier selection at the design of engineering design and manufacturing. The manufacturing system (KKSM) expertise group has carried out several research related shared manufacturing, as well as research on the implementation of information technology in production planning and control. The study needs to be developed so that institutions that carry out coordination roles can be realized in the environment of IKM metal component suppliers, sub-assemblies, or tools (such as jigs, fixture, mold and dies). This proposal is intended to develop a collaboration model on the MTO manufacturing system that optimizes IKM collaboration with industries supplied and between fellow IKMs based on capacity criteria, costs, quality, and time of work. The development of this model is done through the research stages as follows: A. Development of mathematical models for cost optimization, time and quality involving many suppliers. b. Developing shared models (shared) the capacity between IKM in completing an order. c. Develop software to support IKM collaboration with the industry supplied and among fellow IKMs.
