Activity Summary

One way to know and understand the phenomenon of land change can be approached through the form of modeling. Land change models are a tool used to support the analysis of the causes and consequences of changes in land, to better understand land system functions and also to support land use planning and policy (Verburg et al., 2004). Although the variety of these modeling is the same, the location and time factors also determine the results of the research conducted. This is related to human characteristics (habits / way of life) and location conditions in each region / regions that have different characteristics in making land changes, especially in the fulfillment of their lives (Veldkamp and Lambin, 2001 in Lambin, 2004). Some models of predicting land cover changes have been sought to be developed, in this case for West Java and the Bandung region (Bandung City, Cimahi City, Bandung Regency, and West Bandung Regency). The development of the model includes the development of methods, procedures, and / or the driving characteristics of land cover changes. From the development of the model, the results of the precision of predictions vary from Ã, ± 40% to ± 70% (Qonita et al, 2019; Qonita, et al, 2018; Virtriana et al, 2017; Ainiyah et al, 2016; Virtriana 2013; Delar et al , 2012). This indicates the need for further model development, both in terms of methods, procedures, and / or other parameters, so that the maximum results are in accordance with the characteristics of the study area. Of some focus of research, the model is intended for the prediction of changes in land cover in a study area using global factors. Global meaning here indirectly implies that the driving factors of land cover change have the potential for the same great influence for the entire region of the study (Global Factors). This condition needs to be studied further because not all driving factors for changes in land cover have the same effect for each location (local factors) in the observation area. Therefore, the thing that needs to be studied further (and as the sustainability of the 2019 research) is analyzing the main components of the driving factors according to zoning characteristics (spatial clusters) of changes in land cover in West Java province. There are many factors related to changing land cover that applies globally according to the binary regression logistics model that is spatially developed for West Java Province (2018 research results). On the other hand, spatial patterns of land cover changes in the form of clusters (2019 research results) indicate the possibility of the type and magnitude of these factors differ in each zone. This condition implies certain preferences as local characteristics that encourage changes in land cover. This desire is not based on the administrative area but is suspected of being a certain attraction. Even this preference can change in line with time. Referring to this explanation, this research is intended to analyze the type and amount of the main driving factors based on the cluster of changes in land cover in West Java. This analysis is also based on some different times so that local characters can be known from the driving in each location. It is hoped that the results of this study can increase the prediction model of land cover changes that have been developed previously for West Java. In the results of previous studies have been obtained between others: predictive models, several global driver factors, and spatial cluster methods to determine zoning changes.
